1939 Plymouth

1939 Plymouth P8 4 door

I’ve always had an affinity for cars of the 30’s and the Art Deco period. My very first car was a 1930 Ford two door sedan. I was only 15 when I bought it… I’m now 64.

But back to the Plymouth. I was perusing Hemmings Motor News and ran across this car. They wanted way too much money for it. I called and talked to someone who was handling the sale for an older doctor in Lincoln Nebraska. This was the last car in his collection to sell. He had bought it in the south somewhere from a guy who did a total restoration on it. Actually, the car was a senior winner at Hershey. The doctor only drove it once a year in the 4th of July parade—-thus the fabulous condition. I flew out to Nebraska, took a look, and made an offer. “Go home kid, not even in the ballpark. “

Well it seems that late in the ninth inning, every ball game is close to being over. Dr. so and so was losing the game. Two questions for you:

  1. Who got a phone call?
  2. Who hit a home run?

I kept the car for probably 5 years and loved every minute I was in it.
