1948 Lincoln Continental Convertible
I was sitting in the Ford Lincoln Mercury one day talking to the
owner about cars of years gone by. At the time, I had only seen one
48 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet in person. After all, there were
less than 450 of them ever made.
Boy, it sure would be neat to have one of those, wouldn’t it? “Sure
would Steve, check these pictures out! “ He reached in his drawer
and out came a stack of photos. This one is for sale down in
southern California, two owner car.
Off I went, home on my knees begging just one last time and presto.
It pays to beg. Three days later it was in my garage.
A lady purchased it in 1948 and kept it into the late 80’s. She too
was in her late 80’s when I got it. I had planned to do a frame off
restoration on this one car in the future. My plans were foiled
when I realized how much it would cost to do. So I enjoyed the car
for about three years. It ran great, looked great, smelled great,
and greatest thing of all, it paid for most of the museum building
when I sold it.
Thank goodness for photos.
